Target Audience:
My target audience is a 4th grade class of 25. I will have them in groups of 5 around lab top computers. There are 3 children with ADHD. Two of the students are working at a higher than average grade level.
Big Idea:
They are learning about cells and animal growth. I need to have something that would get them interested in learning more about this topic.
Overall Goal:
I want the class to be able to get an interesting background on how organisms grow; starting with a cell.
Indiana State Standards:
4.4.1 Investigate, such as by using microscopes, to see that living things are made mostly of cells.
ISTE Standards:
Technology productivity tools
~ Students use technology tools to enhance learning, increase productivity, and promote creativity.

Lesson Plan Ideas
Language Arts
Grades 1-2
This lesson would be geared towards creative writing. The teacher would give the students a topic to write a story about ( for example what did you do over your summer vacation). However instead of writing their story out on paper, they would write it out on the tablets. Working on the tablets would be more fun for the students and then their handwriting on the tablets can be transfered into type. This way if their story is transfered into type it will be easier for you and others to read, but because they wrote it out on the tablet first they were able to practice their handwriting.

Grade 2-4
For this lesson, I would have my students visit a science virtual museum. They could visit a virtual museum about dinosaurs and be able to learn about their environments and characteristics. Or they could visit a virtual museum about space where they could learn about the planets, stars, and constellations. Then after the students visit the virtual museums they could write a journal entry in their blog about what they saw and what they learned. The teacher could then read and grade their blogs.

Social Studies Grades 4-5
You could do a fun lesson plan with the interactive museums. The students could explore whatever the museum of your choice is and give out a worksheet. This would give the students free time to explore but also give them guidance so that you are sure they are going to all the important places in the museum.

Math Grades 2-3
I also think that a lesson plan involving the interactive whiteboard would be a good idea. You could do a lesson plan and have a column of math problems and another column with the answers and have the kids come up and move the correct answer with the problem.

Language Arts 3-4
I was thinking of a lesson plan idea in which the students could use the tablets to take notes. The teacher could do a power point or something similiar then the students could use the tablets to take notes and also highlight what they feel is important.

Social Studies
Grades 4-5
This could be a social studies lesson that centers around current events. Students would first be asked to research current news stories either through bringing in newspapers or by internet sites such as MSNBC.com or CNN.com. Then once all the students have gathered enough information they can put it all together to create their own news broadcast. This could be recorded as a radio news broadcast or as a television news broadcast. The teacher could then upload the news show as a podcast that could be shared with other teachers and classrooms.

Health
Grades 1-2
If I were starting the human body unit. It would be helpful to construct a lesson that also used the white interactive boards to give them introduction to the body. They could point at different parts and then we could discuss what we think they do or why we have them. Such as the stomach. If there was a way to touch the stomach on the screen and then have a link to a site that had facts about it come up. I think this would be a neat way for students to get some answers about the body while working together and learning in a non- pressure setting.

If my classroom had interactive whiteboards they could be used to help the class work as a teach to complete an activity such as a geography puzzle. All of the pieces could be mixed up on the screen and they could take turns trying to find the correct position of the pieces. It could be a puzzle of the globe, the US, or even Indiana. This would build teamwork and their ability to recognize the location of many places.
